New Summer Lifting Days/TimesPosted Sunday, July 12, 2009 by Duane Maranda Athletes and Parents, In an effort to increase attendance at our lifting sessions I am changing the days and offering some more times in a hope it better accommodates your schedules. Beginning today we will be lifting Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays 6 pm – 7:30 pm. We will also be offering AM lifting on Tuesday and Thursday for those of you who have had trouble attending the night sessions because of work. AM session times will be 6:30 AM – 8:00 AM. For the athletes attending the Monday and Wednesday passing leagues you will be required to attend the Sunday and Thursday lifting sessions only. All linemen and athletes not attending the passing leagues you are required to attend Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Below are some concerns that we are addressing with our adjusted schedule: "I am working so I can not make the night sessions"- We are now offering AM sessions on weekday days to accommodate you. "Four days plus two passing league days is too much"- I agree, my goal was to have enough kids for the passing leagues to send two separate groups of kids to each. However we do not so we are cutting the lifting days down to 3 instead of 4. "Friday is hard for me to make because we go away"- I understand completely so we are not lifting on Fridays
The coaches and I have noticed that some athletes are attending the passing leagues but not the next days lifting sessions. Therefore in order for you participate in the passing league you must attend the lifting sessions. If you are excused by a coach than you will be allowed to play, however you must contact Coach Dinerman or myself. Passing League athletes may attend all three days if they so wish and may attend Tuesday instead of Thursday if they know Thursday would be an issue.
We have 21 lifting days left before the season. I am asking all of you to make the 75% attendance mark between now and then. Attendance will be kept and all athletes falling short will have to make up the sessions missed when the season begins.
For athletes splitting time with other sports; as long as you give our team a commitment as well you will be given full credit when lifting with your other team. Same is for camps and clinics attended for the summer. Please just notify me of them. An example would be lifting for wrestling. Just let me know you will be doing so.
All athletes may attend extra sessions in the AM to earn more attendance points. Passing league session will count for .5 points for attendance totals
Tuesday July 21st is our golf tournament so we be offering only the AM session on that day.
The lifting competition is 5 weeks away; our season is 7 weeks away. Our offseason training combined with the passing leagues is vital to the success of our team. We all must commit ourselves to getting bigger, faster, stronger and better. Remember it is the days where our bodies our telling us to take a day off but our minds and our hearts won’t let that happen that separate champions from everyone else.
